Dekoze (Toronto)
Bangin House & Funky Techno / ppm - Tribe magazine

dekoze.jpgThe first thing you'll notice about Deko-ze when you see him spin is his presence and energy, a trait that is a signature of veteran DJs. His sound is without limitations, effortlessly blending techno, trance, acid and breaks into one stream, as if there were no labels. Music is his passion, and his emotive body language behind the decks says it all. Deko-ze is destined to make serious movements on the worldwide scene with representation by Damn! (the Destiny Artist Management Network) and membership in the Balance Promotion and Underground Record Pool(s).

Deko-ze has his roots in Saskatoon. As a founding member of the Plastic Puppet Motive collective, he helped develop a vibrant scene that played host to top-notch talent normally restricted to larger cities. "Plastic Puppet Motive started out of necessity," he recalls. "It wasn't only people who enjoyed music; it was people who enjoyed performance, people who enjoyed art. It was a group of us that just needed something more than what the mainstream club scene had to offer.

"If someone were to say, 'What would you be doing if you weren't doing music?' I'd have no idea, because music is so important to me," he says. "I love it. There's always music in my head."

See Deko-ze at System for Breath Fridays; he also does the Sunday Sessions at Limelight for those who can't get enough. Dig a little deeper and check out for a wealth of info and sound bites. And check out his show Technopolis, Friday nights on <1groove.com>.
